# Set Up Speaker Profiles

> Train Mavio to recognize speakers across meetings for accurate attribution and analytics.

Speaker profiles teach Mavio to recognize recurring participants by voice, so transcripts automatically attribute speech to the correct person — even across different meetings and platforms.

## Create your first profile

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Speaker Profiles">
    Go to **Settings** > **Speaker Profiles** or click the **Speakers** tab in any meeting.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a new profile">
    Click **Add Speaker** and enter the person's name. Optionally add their email and organization.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a voice sample">
    Link the profile to a segment from an existing meeting where the person spoke. Mavio uses this sample to build a voice fingerprint.

    For best results, choose a segment that is:

    * At least 15 seconds long
    * Contains only that person speaking (no crosstalk)
    * Recorded with reasonable audio quality
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm recognition">
    After adding a sample, Mavio scans your recent meetings and suggests other segments that match. Confirm correct matches and reject incorrect ones to improve accuracy.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Improve recognition accuracy

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Add multiple voice samples">
    The more samples Mavio has, the better it recognizes a speaker — especially across different microphones and environments. Aim for 3-5 samples from different meetings.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Use high-quality segments">
    Avoid segments with background noise, crosstalk, or echo. Clear audio produces stronger voice fingerprints.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Cover different contexts">
    Add samples from different meeting types — a Zoom call, an in-person recording, and a phone call. This helps Mavio generalize across audio conditions.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Review and correct attributions">
    After each meeting, review the speaker labels in the transcript. Correcting misattributions teaches Mavio and improves future accuracy.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Cross-meeting tracking

Once a speaker profile is created, Mavio automatically:

* Labels that person in all future meetings
* Retroactively updates past meetings where the same voice is detected
* Tracks participation stats (talk time, meeting count, topics discussed)

View a speaker's activity by clicking their name in any transcript or visiting their profile in **Settings** > **Speaker Profiles**.

## Speaker analytics

Each speaker profile includes analytics:

| Metric              | Description                                           |
| ------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| **Total talk time** | Cumulative speaking duration across all meetings |
| **Meeting count** | Number of meetings the speaker appeared in |
| **Avg. talk ratio** | Average percentage of meeting time this person speaks |
| **Top topics** | Most frequently discussed topics by this speaker |
| **Recent meetings** | Last 10 meetings with this speaker |

## Team-wide profiles

On **Team** and **Enterprise** plans, speaker profiles are shared across the workspace:

* Any team member can create and improve profiles
* Profiles are automatically matched across all team members' meetings
* Admins can merge duplicate profiles from **Settings** > **Speaker Profiles** > **Merge**

<Tip>
  Link speaker profiles to your team directory or Google Contacts by enabling **Contact Sync** in **Settings** > **Speaker Profiles** > **Sync**. Mavio will auto-create profiles from your contact list.
