# Installation

> Download and install Mavio on macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, or as a Chrome browser extension.

Mavio is available on every major platform. Install whichever apps match your workflow — they all sync to the same account.

## Desktop app

The desktop app gives you system audio capture, global hotkeys, and offline recording. It runs quietly in your menu bar or system tray.

    **Requirements:** macOS 12 (Monterey) or later, Apple Silicon or Intel.

      <Step title="Download the installer">
        Go to [mavioapp.com/download](https://mavioapp.com/download) and click **Download for Mac**. The `.dmg` file will begin downloading.

      <Step title="Install the app">
        Open the `.dmg` file and drag **Mavio** into your **Applications** folder.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Grant permissions">
        On first launch, macOS will ask for:

        * **Microphone access** — required for recording
        * **Screen Recording** permission — required for system audio capture
        * **Accessibility** — required for global hotkeys

        Go to **System Settings > Privacy & Security** to enable each one.

      <Step title="Sign in">
        Open Mavio from Applications and sign in with your Mavio account.
      </Step>

    <Warning>
      If macOS says the app is from an unidentified developer, right-click the app, select **Open**, and confirm. This only happens on first launch.

    **Requirements:** Windows 10 (version 1903+) or Windows 11, 64-bit.

      <Step title="Download the installer">
        Go to [mavioapp.com/download](https://mavioapp.com/download) and click **Download for Windows**. Save the `.exe` installer.

      <Step title="Run the installer">
        Double-click the downloaded file and follow the setup wizard. Mavio installs to your user profile — no admin rights required.
      </Step>

      <Step title="Grant permissions">
        Windows will prompt for microphone access on first recording. Click **Allow** when the system dialog appears.

      <Step title="Sign in">
        Mavio launches automatically after installation. Sign in with your account.
      </Step>

      Mavio auto-updates in the background. You will see a notification when a new version is ready — just restart the app to apply it.

## Mobile app

Record in-person meetings, phone calls (where legally permitted), and conferences from your pocket.

    1. Open the **App Store** and search for **Mavio Meeting Notes**.
    2. Tap **Get** to install.
    3. Open the app and sign in.
    4. Grant **Microphone** permission when prompted.

    1. Open **Google Play** and search for **Mavio Meeting Notes**.
    2. Tap **Install**.
    3. Open the app and sign in.
    4. Grant **Microphone** and **Notification** permissions when prompted.

<Tip>
  Enable **Background Audio** in the mobile app settings so recordings continue when you switch apps or lock your screen.

## Browser extension

The Chrome extension adds a one-click record button to Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams in your browser.

    Visit the [Mavio extension page](https://chrome.google.com/webstore) on the Chrome Web Store and click **Add to Chrome**.

  <Step title="Pin the extension">
    Click the puzzle icon in Chrome's toolbar and pin **Mavio** so the icon is always visible.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Sign in">
    Click the Mavio icon and sign in with your account. The extension will detect supported meeting pages automatically.

  The extension works in Chromium-based browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Arc.

## Web app

No installation needed. Access the full Mavio dashboard from any modern browser at [app.mavioapp.com](https://app.mavioapp.com). The web app supports reviewing recordings, reading transcripts, managing settings, and chatting with Mavio AI. Recording is handled by the meeting bot, desktop app, mobile app, or browser extension.
